"Life/Style" Management and the Shift Towards 3-Factor Mobile Authentication

From 2012, was in my draft folderm nearly a year before I started the company:
There is nothing new about putting sensors on smartphones.  Microphones, keypads and cameras have been around for a very long time.  The '90's ushered in  positioning, IR and temperature sensors.  While these were just the beginning, sensors are transforming the ubiquitous mobile phone from a communications device to a "life/style" monitor/controller/enabler device.  And yes, thinking about it long enough might give many of us cause for concern.  This is why our so-very-personalized smartphones are also rapidly becoming our personal identity management system.

Samsung just announced their strategy of adding new types of sensors to their smartphone design for various types of biometrics.

Implementing sensory methods of authentication such as gestures and biometrics is an anticipated and growing trend in the mobile market.  Samsung may be following this trend, but by announcing the implementation of multiple forms of biometrics in their products they are LEADING the way toward enabling usable 3-factor authentication. Samsung is the global smartphone leader, and this initiative by them could be a good indicator that the shift is taking place now.
